Pacifico, Burgos or Santa Monica to Dapa Port
The sea departure from the far end of the island — the longest road leg to the ferry, and the one journey where we will tell you to check whether you want it at all.
Leaving by sea from the far end
Dapa Port is Siargao’s passenger sea gateway and the terminal for the crossing to Surigao City on the mainland. Dapa is on the south of the island; Pacifico, Burgos and Santa Monica are at the north end. So leaving this way from up here is a long road leg first and a sailing second, and the road part of it is the longest on the island. The corridor is the same one arriving ferry passengers travel in the opposite direction, drawn on our routes map from real OpenStreetMap highway geometry. As on every route page here, we publish the journey and not a duration for it.
From the north end, the boat costs you the most road
This is the honest part, and it is the reason this page exists rather than pointing you at the General Luna version. From General Luna the ferry is a short hop down to Dapa. From the north end it is close to the full length of the island before you have boarded anything — and Sayak Airport, in Del Carmen, is not the same distance away. Which one is right depends on where you are going next, what it costs you and how much time you have, and those are your numbers rather than ours. We will quote either. What we would rather not do is drive you the length of Siargao to a port because nobody mentioned that the airport was an option.
We will not print a sailing time, and be careful which one you trust
Departure schedules for this crossing are republished across a great many travel pages and they do not agree with each other. Sailings are also weather-dependent — crossings get cancelled, merged or moved, which is exactly the kind of thing a page written months ago cannot know about your date. So we publish no times and no fares for the ferry. Confirm the sailing with the operator or the ticket office for the day you are travelling, then tell us the time you have to be at the terminal, and we will time the pickup to the sailing you are actually booked on. From this end of the island that confirmation matters more than it does from General Luna, because there is a great deal more road to undo if the sailing has moved.
Weather decides more here than the road does
Siargao sits on the amihan side of the country and Surigao del Norte has no dry season — which is why our guide to when to go treats the usual Philippines timing advice as inverted for this island. For a departure that means the sea, not the highway, is the variable most likely to move your day. Build room around a sailing you cannot afford to miss, particularly if a flight from the mainland is waiting on the other side of it. Tell us if that is the case and we will time the pickup with the connection in mind rather than to the ferry alone.
Dapa Port is not Del Carmen port
Two places on this island are called the port and they do unrelated jobs. Dapa Port is the passenger terminal for Surigao City. Del Carmen port is the road-to-boat launch into the mangrove channels for Sugba Lagoon, and nobody leaves the island from it — though it is the one you pass closer to coming down from the north. A request that says only “the port” can mean either, so say Dapa. If it is the airport you actually want, our north end to Sayak Airport guide is the transfer to ask for instead.
What to include in your request
The sailing date and the time you need to be at the terminal; which of the three north-end towns you are leaving from and the accommodation name; your group size; bags and boards, with lengths if there are boards; and any child-seat need. If your plan continues past Surigao — a connecting flight, a bus, a night on the mainland — say so, and we will tell you plainly which parts of it we can cover rather than quoting around it.
